Principles
  • Each student of Michigan State University is issued an ID card following initial enrollment.
  • The ID card is the property of Michigan State University.
  • Library privileges, access to University buildings, facilities and classrooms, and purchase of tickets and entry into athletic and entertainment events may require the possession and presentation of the ID card upon request.
  • Alteration, falsification,or misuse of the ID card is a violation of General Student Regulation 5 and other regulations applicable.
Instructions
  • You are responsible for all use of your ID card whether authorized or unauthorized. Do not loan your ID card or leave it where it might be used by an unauthorized person.
  • If you lose your ID card, go to the Spartan Cash/Housing website at spartancash.com or call (517) 355-2274 to report the lost or stolen card. You should also call the Main Library at (517) 355-2333. You are responsible for all materials checked out of the libraries with your ID card.
  • Replacement Costs
    • Lost Card: $20.00
    • Exchange of damaged or defaced card: No Charge
    • Exchange of an electronically unreadable card which is not visibly damaged: No charge
Replacement ID cards are made in the Registrar's Office, 50 Administration Building. A Pictured ID is required. Replacement fees will be billed to your student account.

Student Spouses
Spouses of registered students may obtain IDs entitling them to certain privileges. The student and spouse must appear together in person in 50 Administration and present the student's MSU ID card and proof of marriage. There is no charge.
